Seasons (See adjacent photo for Detail)
The pear is an age-old symbol for female fertility. When you invert a pear, it reflects the shape of the female womb. The pear itself is removable from atop its perch and measures about 5 inches high and opens up to an anatomical depiction of a fetus within the womb. Inside the pear, I've acid-etched a poem that I wrote that relates the trimesters of development to the changing seasons of nature. The base of the stand is made from a manzanite root burl. Two cast silver fetuses at different stages of development curl up inside the folds of the root burl. The overall measurements of this piece are about 11 x 13 inches.
